A Message from the Development Team

As developers of Mandala Village and Resort, we are committed to making a difference. Our approach has been to stretch our boundaries, to research and combine new forward-looking ideas with ancient and time-tested principles of architecture and design. We want to take sustainability beyond its current understanding to embrace the goal of nourishing all aspects of the lives of the residents—mind, body, and spirit. We strongly believe that we are launching a vehicle that will ultimately have a life of its own, and over time the residents of Mandala Village will become active participants in sustaining and expanding this vision.

—Richard Bialosky and David Ederer

Richard Bialosky, AIA

Richard is an award-winning architect who has been actively engaged in real estate development and design for over 40 years. He graduated from the School of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1969, and has received over 60 national, state, and local design awards. Richard is a pioneer in the application of healthy home building materials and protocols. His 1987 personal residence in Santa Barbara, CA stands as an early model of energy-efficient and non-toxic sustainable design. Over the course of his career, Richard has designed and developed over 1,500 residential units, as well as many commercial and office projects.

In 1975, Richard and his wife, Jane, became teachers of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Transcendental Meditation program®. In 1988, he was introduced to Maharishi’s vision of building sustainable and enlightened communities based on the principles of the ancient science of architecture from the Vedic civilization of India. In 2000, inspired by that vision and frustrated with the notion of fostering change in small incremental steps, Richard left the successful architectural practice he had established in California to devote his energy solely to green community development.

Mandala Village, in Vero Beach, Florida, is the fruit of the seed planted back in 1988. Mandala Village is destined to be one of the most unique projects in the country—combining the age-old principles of Vedic architecture with non-toxic, health-promoting construction protocols; environmental sensitivity; energy efficiency; and an emphasis on planning techniques that promote a sense of community.

Richard Bialosky is currently the chair of the City of Vero Beach Architectural Review Committee, a member of the Cultural Art Village Leadership Team, as well as the immediate past president of Temple Beth Shalom.
